Week one: the diet equivalent to the participation award.
Here’s a glimpse of how my first week went.
My goal was to eat vegetables or fruit with every meal or snack and to drink more water.
Well lets just say it went, not well and not horrible but it just went.
Okay, maybe just a little dab of shame.
Need I say more?
Of course I don’t but I am anyways because it’s sort of the point of this whole thing.
Monday morning started off great, and by that I mean I woke up with my eye almost swollen shut because of mother natures death dust.
I was late for work and if there’s anything I hate more than kale, its having a short paycheck.
Let me explain something to you, me and money have a special relationship.
It is very one-sided, but it is a relationship nonetheless.
I work my ass off trying to make it and then it leaves me for other people.
Its sad, but I still have hope it will stick around one day.
I did manage to enjoy 2 pieces of avocado toast before going into work looking like Sloth from The Goonies.
After work I had baked chicken with veggies.
Tuesday’s avocado toast didn’t go as well.
It taste more like i’d rather be eating chic fila.
Lunch would have been okay, if I would have remembered to bring it to work with me, instead I ate two grilled chicken wraps from Wendy’s and drank one of the orange mango drinks.
That counts as fruit right?
Wednesday, my husband brought our puppy to meet me at the park to eat lunch.
I forgot my lunch again that day so I ate more chicken wraps.
Oh boy, what can I say about Thursday?
If I am being 100% honest, I did not plan my meals for the week.
I had a general idea on how my week was going to go in my head , but life happened.
I did not go grocery shopping.
I did temporarily enjoy every greasy, calorie filled bite of my pizza, burgers, fries, doughnuts, etc…..
However, I did not like having the meat sweats and I absolutely felt gross by Friday.
So I have a few regrets.
I am not going to beat myself up about it though.
I resisted the temptation of junk food for a couple of days.
Could I have done better?
Yes, of course.
There’s always room to improve.
I could have also done a lot worse.
So I am choosing to stay on the positive side of the fence where the grass is always green because its artificial and I don’t have to worry about my throat swelling shut.
Oh, I am allergic to grass too.
For me summertime in the south is like living the Hunger Games everyday but less bloody and no one wears clothes like that.
Good news is I felt so bad after my fast food binge that I didn’t want to even think about those dirty dirty foods.
So I planned my meals!
Keep in mind I am trying to do the baby step thing unlike what I normally do and just dive in; which usually ends up in a fast food binge and me feeling like a greased up walrus.
Not all my meals and snacks are 100% clean but I am not following a set guideline and I don’t have a rule book.
My food plan:
For breakfast I plan on eating eggs. They’re fast, simple and other than the chicken poop; they’re clean.
I want the typical chicken and veggies for lunch. I am choosing random veggies, instead of doing the typical broccoli and sweet potatoes. After a few weeks of that not only do I feel like going through a drive through and ordering everything they have to offer but it gives me terrible gas.
I told you, I am being honest.
For dinner the plan is for the following meals:
tuna naan pizza
pork roast (honey garlic and I am adding bbq sauce to the left overs)
grilled shrimp and rice
chicken burrito bowls
I will let you know how well I stick to these.
Just so you know, I may have slacked on the food but I F’n rocked the hell out of drinking water!
My goal for next week is to stick to my food list and to drink more water.
So if you are just starting your journey into clean eating, have mastered it or if you’re just curious, let me know!
I would love to hear about your experiences, what worked for you, what didn’t and any general thoughts you may have about it.
Sometimes it’s nice to know you’re not alone in the produce isle of life.
I went deep for that one!
About as deep as a mud puddle.
That’s all for this week folks, I plan on posting a DIY project soon, so stay tuned!
Stay tuned? Do people still say that?
